How do you clean a wooden floor? How to remove wear stains?

A wooden floor gives your interior a lot of warmth and an authentic look for your professional offices. For its beauty to remain radiant, it must be carefully maintained. We will give you tips for cleaning your wooden floors. What are the tips for efficient and simple maintenance? How to remove scratches from your floor ?

What you need to know about maintaining a parquet floor.

While each type of flooring needs specific care, there are some general concepts that you can apply to all floors. Whether it is a wooden floor, a waxed floor, a floating floor, a vitrified floor, a glued floor, a solid wood floor… the main enemy of your parquet is water. Parquet is sensitive to humidity, and even more so to water, which makes it swell and warp, like all elements built with wood. You have to be very careful, especially if you have children.

To maintain your floor, do not clean it with water, use slightly damp mops or cloths and let it dry. If you spill water on the floor, we’ll have to mop it up as soon as possible, before it becomes embedded in the wood. In the event of flooding, it is not uncommon to have to replace blades that have swollen and failed to return to their original shape as they dry out.
So remember to equip your plant pots with saucers to prevent water from running down to the ground if you water them too much, which happens from time to time.

Another recurring problem is scratches on the surface of the floor. While it is not possible to avoid them completely, simple actions can prevent the vast majority of them. To do this, equip the legs of furniture, chairs and tables with felt pads. This will have the advantage, in addition to sparing your floor, of making them silent when you move them. Avoid furniture, chairs and sofa beds with casters as much as possible. They leave indelible marks on your floor, especially when used repeatedly in the same place.

Note that some rubber wheels have a lower negative impact on the floor. Finally, avoid using detergents that can damage your floor if they are not specifically adapted to the finish of your parquet.

Cleaning solid wood flooring

This type of flooring is fragile. Clean it with a damp microfibre broom without using too much force. Once in a while, clean it thoroughly using a brush with black soap. The aim is to remove the dirt deep down. Another tip is to brush with the cooking water of the potatoes, the starch helps to maintain the wood of your floor and prolong its shine.

Renovating your floor, the tricks of the trade

To remove scratches on a sealed floor, apply a little car polish for example and rub gently in small circles over the scratches.
If you want to completely renovate your floor, you will first have to sand it with a machine dedicated to this purpose. Mix the wood dust with wood glue to make a filler. Fill any holes in the worm-eaten or damaged wood. Start sanding again and apply the chosen protection. Linseed oil for a solid parquet, sealer or wax. For a waxing with an exceptional result we advise you to use HAKABELLA: Self-shining wax emulsion.
Self-shining wax emulsion with natural carnauba wax, for all modern floors. Hakabella maintains linoleum flooring, parquet, plastic and tiled floors. Dries to a shine without rubbing and can be repolished. Removes easily by washing with NEUTRALSEIFE.
A word of advice: Hakabella can also be added directly into the water (two caps for 5 l of water). At the same dosage, Hakabella is also suitable for car body maintenance.
