Cleanse a parquet floor
Unlike other floors, parquet is a coating that will tarnish over time, waxing. Even taking all the precautions, it will eventually get dirty after the years. Several events can help you motivate to cleanse the floor:
- revive the shine,
- preparation before you varnish,
- preparation before painting.
If you are in one of these three situations, cleansing is necessary.
#1 method for cleansing a painted or varnished parquet
For painted or varnished parquet, it must first be cleaned and make sure to remove all dust and other residues. Be careful not to crack your wooden floor, it is essential to cleanse in the direction of the fibers of your wood!
You should also be careful if you use a cleaning heat gun. The heat gun can burn the wood of your floor if you do not respect the cleansing time. We recommend that you seek the advice of an expert before you start cleansing. Once you’re ready to start, consider opening the windows, wearing a mask and gloves as the cleansing creates dust. For more information on the dangers of dust, you can refer to this article: What are the effects of dust on the lungs?
#2 method for cleansing a waxed floor
To cleanse a waxed floor, you will have to remove the wax that protects your floor. For this, it is necessary to apply with the help of a brush a scourer like this: applying a cleanser before stripping
Once the cleanser is applied, wait for the product to take affect for 3 hours (may vary depending on the product, see product instructions). The residues must then be removed with a brush.
Cleanse a tiled floor
The telltale signs that a tiled floor needs to be cleansed can be:
- the tiles became dull and clogged,
- the joints have darkened over time.
The products to cleanse a tile will vary according to the wear of your tile.
#1 method to cleanse a little damaged tile
If your tile is slightly tarnished by dirt or grease, we recommend using black soaps with baking soda or white vinegar.
#2 method to cleanse a badly damaged tile
If the tiles still look worn and dirty, then more powerful products must be used and chemical cleansing with dedicated products could be the solution. A cleanser shampoo is the solution : Tile remover shampoo.
For cleansing joints, it is usually a good idea to use a metal brush. Then, if the cleansing has damaged your joints, it will be necessary to join them again with a suitable cement.
For a light cleansing of old or recent tiles, you must follow several steps in the right order:
- If the tiles are covered with wax, it is necessary to remove this protection using a cleaning product as previously seen to cleanse a floor.
- The tomettes should then be cleaned properly with lukewarm water mixed with white vinegar and 70° alcohol.
- Leave for 1 to 2 hours then rinse with water.
If you want to deep clean tomettes, you will need a powerful cleanser shampoo and a mono-brush with a suitable head. Be careful not to take a too rigid head, you could damage the tomettes.
After the use of the mono-brush it is necessary to rinse with water.
Small Tip: to give radiance to your tiles, we recommend after cleansing to revive them using wax or linseed oil.
